Initial visibility: currently defaults to autocollapse

To set this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:

  • |state=collapsed: {{Area code list|state=collapsed}} to show the template collapsed, i.e., hidden apart from its title bar
  • |state=expanded: {{Area code list|state=expanded}} to show the template expanded, i.e., fully visible
  • |state=autocollapse: {{Area code list|state=autocollapse}}
    • shows the template collapsed to the title bar if there is a Script error: No such module "Template link general"., a Script error: No such module "Template link general"., or some other table on the page with the collapsible attribute
    • shows the template in its expanded state if there are no other collapsible items on the page

If the |state= parameter in the template on this page is not set, the template's initial visibility is taken from the |default= parameter in the Collapsible option template. For the template on this page, that currently evaluates to autocollapse.

Usage

This macro is placed on the primary listing page for all the area codes in each state or country in the North American Numbering Plan. If there is more than one area code for a state, it should link the state to a page such as [[List of Idaho area codes|Idaho]]. Where there is a page listing all area codes for that state or country, each area code listed on it should point back to the state's area code list page. If there is only one area code for the country or state, then it is placed on that area code page, e.g. [[Area code 302|Delaware]].
