Managed by the National Science and Technology Development Agency, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, it is the country's largest science and technology research park on the land granted by Thammasat University. Access to the park is convenient, as it is linked to downtown Bangkok by two superhighways and a number of city bus routes.

The Park area

Thailand Science Park was set up in 2002. It is managed by the Technology Management Center (TMC) of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) under the Ministry of Science and Technology. TSP is a critical part of Thailand's efforts to strengthen its capabilities in research and innovation. This important infrastructure is established to promote greater innovativeness and encourage more R&D activities within the technology intensive sectors. In addition to advanced facilities and business space, the TSP offers a full range of value-added services to support technology businesses. TSP currently houses the NSTDA headquarters, the TMC and the four national research centers, namely:

•National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC)

•National Metal and Material Technology Center (MTEC)

•National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC)

•National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC)

Construction was split into 2 distinct 'Phases': Phase 1 of the TSP consisting of over 140,000 sq.m. of built-up space has been completed and is fully occupied by the 4 national research centers and more than 60 corporate tenants.

Phase 2 of the TSP, which has been designated INC 2, comprises 4 inter-connected towers which creates over 124,000 sq.m. of total floor area. INC 2 is built around the concept of “Work-Life Integration”. It is designed to create a conducive environment for technology companies, in which their talented people can live, work and play. INC 2 aims to adapt to the ever-changing needs of today’s knowledge workers.

INC 2 is a large 3-part building containing both office and laboratory space, which are rented by private companies.

INC 2 comprises

•Designated areas for laboratories requiring vibration control and special preparation

•Specific areas at the base of the fours towers suitable for setting up equipment requiring floor loading allowance

•Link-ways between the 4 towers to foster interaction and networking among the tenants

•Direct access to the Thailand Science Park Convention Center consisting of 14 meeting rooms, an auditorium and 2,000 sq.m. exhibition area

Environment

Located in the Park are the main NSTDA office building and the four national research centers listed above. Faculties include a library, an infirmary, a bank, a savings cooperative, a residence hall, a nursery (day care center), a grocery store, two food courts, and a number of coffee shops and eateries. Future expansion includes a plan to build a sports club, a science camp, and more industrial R&D labs.

The Park is situated next to Asian Institute of Technology, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, and Thammasat University. Also located at the Park is the Technology Information Access Center (now become Science and Technology Knowledge Service Center or STKS), a provider of on-line information services, including access to relevant databases.
