Toledo Air National Guard Base is the home base of the Ohio Air National Guard 180th Fighter Wing.[1]

Overview

The 180th Fighter Wing (FW) of the Ohio Air National Guard occupies 135.4 acres (0.548 km2) of leased land on the Toledo Express Airport (ANG), located approximately 22 miles (35 km) west of Toledo, Ohio.[1]

The mission of the 180th FW is to provide combat ready F-16C Fighting Falcon aircraft and support units capable of deploying world-wide in minimum response time. The 180th FW occupies 3 administrative, 13 industrial, and 7 services buildings totaling approximately 321,882 square feet (29,903.8 m2) with 290 full-time personnel. A unit training drill is conducted once a month and results in a surge of up to a total of 900 personnel.[1]

In its 2005 BRAC Recommendations, DoD recommended to close Mansfield Lahm Air National Guard Base (AGS), OH. It would move the 179th Airlift Wing's (ANG) flying related Expeditionary Combat Support (ECS) to Toledo Express Airport AGS, OH (fire fighters).[1]

DoD also recommended to realign Des Moines Air National Guard Base, Iowa. The F-16 aircraft currently assigned to the 132d Fighter Wing at Des Moines would be redistributed to the 180th Fighter Wing, Toledo Express Airport AGS, OH (nine aircraft) and another installation.[1]
