Viktor Vitali (3 April 1920 – 16 January 2012) was a highly decorated Oberleutnant in the Fallschirmjäger during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.

  1. No evidence of the award can be found in the German Federal Archives. The award was unlawfully presented by the commanding general of the I. Falschirmkorps, General der Fallschirmtruppe Richard Heidrich.[3]
