White Tanzanian is a term which can apply to people from Tanzania who are of European, White African's or Arab descent and who do not regard themselves, or are not regarded as, being part of another racial group. 20,000 belong to different European groups. Arab-Tanzanians first arrived as a result of coastal trading, while small numbers of German government officials and missionaries arrived during the existence of German East Africa. Limited European immigration to Tanzania has also taken place.
