William Pate Mulock, PC (July 8, 1897 – August 25, 1954) was a Canadian politician.
Biography
William Pate Mulock was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to *Cawthra Mulock (1882–1918) and Adèle Baldwin Falconbridge. His father died in New York City during the influenza outbreak in 1918. His mother remarried her cousin Thomas Moss in 1919 and moved to Cannes, France, where she died in 1935.

These are not his parents. Notice the dates from the Canadian Dictionary of Biography entry online under Cawthra MULOCK . Especially note the wedding date: "MULOCK, CAWTHRA, philanthropist and businessman; b. 17 May 1882 in Toronto, son of William Mulock* and Sarah Ellen Crowther; m. there 24 June 1903 Adèle Baldwin Falconbridge, and they had three daughters and a son; d. 1 Dec. 1918 in New York City and was buried in St James’ Cemetery, Toronto." [Personal note: Cawthra Mulock's children were Adele, Violet, Frances and Cawthra Jr.]
William Pate Mulock's parents actually were William MULOCK, [son of Sir William Mulock] and Ethel PATE. They appear [page 124] in Dau's Blue Book 1913 of Toronto notables as living at 518 Jarvis along with "Master W.P. Mulock". Chief Justice Mulock [the grandfather] also is listed as living at 518 Jarvis.
Again, William Pate MULOCK's obituary [on page 4 of Toronto Star, 26 August 1954] sent via "Newmarket" clearly indicates his parentage: "....Hon. William P. Mulock, 57, former post-master general and a grandson of the late Sir William Mulock, died yesterday at his farm home near here following a heart attack".. {history of his career follows in obituary.]..."Born in Toronto , a son of the late William and Ethel Mulock"..."Col.Mulock served as an artillery officer" in WW1, "demobilized in 1919", ..."married Kathleen Eleanor Johnston, daughter of a county court judge in Sault Ste. Marie". "Surviving [him are] widow, two sons William Johnston and Thomas Homan who operates the Mulock farm, and his mother in England." End of edit by CB.
Mulock was educated at Upper Canada College and the University of Toronto, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Society. Following service in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Siberia, he returned and attended Osgoode Hall Law School.
Mulock first ran unsuccessfully for the Canadian House of Commons in the riding of York North in the 1930 federal election. He was elected in a 1934 by-election and re-elected in 1935 and 1940. A Liberal, he was the Postmaster General from 1940 to 1945.
Upon the death of the founding publisher of the Toronto Star in 1948, Mulock inherited some of the estate of the late Joseph E. Atkinson. Mulock was the grandson of Sir William Mulock.
