Xiamen Xiang'an International Airport is an airport being built to serve the city of Xiamen in Fujian Province, China. Once completed (estimated in 2020), it will replace the existing Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport as the city's main airport. The airport is located on the Dadeng Island in Xiang'an District, facing Nan'an, Quanzhou to the north. It is 25 kilometres (16 mi) from central Xiamen, 44 kilometres (27 mi) from downtown Quanzhou, and 72 kilometres (45 mi) from Zhangzhou.[1]
Facilities
The airport will have two runways, which are 3,800 and 3,600 meters long, respectively (class 4F). It will have a 550,000 square metres (5,900,000 sq ft) terminal building designed in the dacuo (大厝) architectural style native to the Minnan region. It is projected to serve 45 million passengers and 500,000 tons of cargo annually by 2025.[1]
