Yoshiaki Arata (荒田 吉明 Arata Yoshiaki?, born 1924)[1] is a pioneer of nuclear fusion research in Japan[1] and a former professor at Osaka University.[2] He is reported to be a strong nationalist, speaking only Japanese in public.[1] He received the Order of Culture in 2006.[3]

Arata started researching and publishing in the field of cold fusion around 1998, together with his colleague Yue Chang Zhang.[4]
