This is a timeline of the events of the 2017 Hollywood Sex Scandal, in which a number of prominent Hollywood figures have been accused of sexual assault.

2017

October

  • October 5: Harvey Weinstein is alleged in an article in the The New York Times of three decades of sexually harassing and paying eight settlements to actresses and female Miramax and Weinstein Company production assistants, temps, and other employees.[1] Weinstein releases a statement that says "I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go." and added that he was working with therapists and planning to take a leave of absence to "deal with this issue head on."[1]
  • October 10: Harvey Weinstein is further alleged in an article by Ronan Farrow to have sexually assaulted or harassed 13 women, and raped three of them.[2] A covert recording of Weinstein admitting to groping Ambra Gutierrez is also in the report.[2]
  • October 29: Kevin Spacey is accused by Anthony Rapp of putting Anthony in his bed and climbing on top of him, making a sexual advance.[3]
  • October 30: Kevin Spacey comes out as gay and apologizes to Anthony Rapp.[4] Kevin Spacey releases a statement on Twitter.[5]

November

  • November 1: Brett Ratner is accused by six women of a variety of sexual misconduct. Martin Singer, representing Brett Ratner, states "I have represented Mr Ratner for two decades, and no woman has ever made a claim against him for sexual misconduct or sexual harassment... Furthermore, no woman has ever requested or received any financial settlement from my client."[6].
  • November 9: Louis C.K. is accused of sexual misconduct by five women in The New York Times.[7]
  • November 10:
    • Louis C.K. releases a statement confirming the accusations against him.[8]
    • George Takei is accused of molesting Scott R. Brunton in an article in The Hollywood Reporter.[9] George Takei denies the claim.[9]
    • Andrew Kreisberg, showrunner for "The Flash", is suspended due to sexual harrassment allegations. It is alleged Kreisberg interacted with a young female writer on The Flash early in the show’s run in a manner that was described as "inappropriate" and creating "a hostile work environment". Specific allegations about Kreisberg were made by at least one other woman, a director who helmed episodes of Arrow and The Flash.[10]
    • Gary Goddard is accused by Anthony Edwards of molesting Anthony when he was 14 years old.[11] A publicist for Gary Goddard issued a statement including "As to the allegations that Mr. Edwards made in his post today, I can unequivocally deny them on Gary’s behalf,".[12]
    • Richard Dreyfuss is accused of sexually harrassing writer Jessica Teich and exposing himself to her over a multi-year period in the mid-1980s. Richard Dreyfuss released a statement denying the claims.[13]
    • Steven Seagal is accused by Eva LaRue that Seagal locked her in a room during an audition at his home in 1990 and then opened his kimono, standing before her with nothing else on but his underpants. A spokesman denied the charge on Seagal's behalf.[14]
