The 9th Filmfare Awards were held in May 20, 1962 at Bombay, honoring the best films in Hindi Cinema in 1961.[1]

Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai bagged the Best Film and Best Actor Awards, both for Raj Kapoor.[2] Vyjayanthimala won her third Filmfare and second Best Actress trophy for Gunga Jumna. While B.R. Chopra won his Best Director Award for Kanoon. Gunga Jumna and Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai had the highest nomination with seven nominations each.[3] Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai was a 1960 release but was not considered for the 8th Filmfare Awards.
