Canterbury College is an independent co-educational,day school affiliated with the Anglican Church of Australia.

The campus is located on 32 hectares in Waterford, between Beenleigh and Loganlea near Woodlands.

History

Canterbury College was established in 1987, with seventy-three students in three classes in Years 6, 7 and 8. Student numbers have grown quickly and it now has an enrolment of 1,250 students, from Pre-Prep (Kindergarten) to Year Twelve.[1]

The College's motto is "The better prepared the stronger".

Canterbury College encourages students to have confidence, guides them to find their own path and teaches them to strive for excellence, and to experience the joy of learning.

Canterbury students confidently make the transition from the College to the wider world as well-rounded individuals.

Academic Excellence

Canterbury College has an excellent academic record allowing students to leave the College fully equipped to achieve their goals. In 2013, 27 per cent of eligible Year 12 students received an OP 1 - 5 and 99 per cent of applying students received a placement and are currently studying at University.

The College's Years 3, 5 and 7 students all achieved at or well above State and National averages in the 2014 NAPLAN testing.

Senior School

Students in the Canterbury Senior School have an abundance of opportunities to follow pathways that will give them the best options when they graduate. On-campus university programs are available and Year 12 students are able to study a university subject while at school.

Middle School

Canterbury College’s National Award-Winning Middle School program supports and guides students in Years 7 to 9 as they transition from childhood through adolescence towards young adulthood. Learning is student-driven and supported by a dedicated Middle School staff team. The College's Year 7 program has been established in Middle School since 2004.

Junior School

Canterbury College's Junior School instils a love of learning and sense of individuality and self-respect in our students that will last a lifetime. Their young, curious minds are introduced to new ideas and concepts in a nurturing age-appropriate environment. Motor sensory development plays an integral part of our Early Learning Program and is enhanced within our New Education Adventure Playground.
