Caramagna Piemonte is a comune (small town) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 30 kilometres (19 mi) south of Turin and about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northeast of Cuneo. As of 31 December 2004, its population was 3,055 and its area 26.3 square kilometres (10.2 sq mi).[1]
Caramagna Piemonte territory contains the following frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Caporali, Gangaglietti, Gabrielassi, Tetti Sotto, and Tre Ponti.

Demographic evolution
Hystory
The name of Caramagna appears for the first time in 1026. The foundation of the Monastery of Santa Maria by the marquis of Turin Olderico greatly increased the power of the country, which extended its interests around the southern Piedmont and Liguria. The monastery was entrusted to the care of the nuns of the Order of St. Benedict; the same order was later replaced by the equivalent male order and later by the Girolamiti.
In 1250 Caramagna moved towards an organization of municipal type. In 1350 appeared the terrible plague hitting Caramagna periodically over the centuries. The plague, the devastation caused by the armies and famine brought in this medieval period absolute poverty. Over the centuries the village of Caramagna was repeatedly hit by war for control of the region. The chronicles tell of 1544 when Caramagna was ruined and was burned by the Spanish army. In 1690 an army of 15,000 French felt on the country robbing and destroying the town.
On June 16, 1706 the royal procession which was escaping from the siege of Turin becouse of the French troops, made a stop in Caramagna. The court took with itself the precious relic of the Holy Shroud which was placed in the Church of Santa Croce. In 1810 - following a financial meltdown, the castle was sold to a private man who was not able to bear the costs of maintenance and decided to destroy it.
During the war of independence many "caramagnesi" participate to this wars but also to the revolutionary movements. Among them we can mention Luigi Ornato who after a long exile in Paris in 1832 came back to Caramagna where was visited of patriots like Pellico, Provana, Gioberti and Balbo. Important in 900 emigration flows with important especially to Argentina. During the First World War were involved different Caramagnesi and 36 of them dead. In the World War II other 29 expired and other 3 in the subsequent war of liberation.

In Caramagna there is a nursery school, the kindergarten "Ruatti", the State Primary School "L.Ornato", the Secondary School of First Instance State. Available to groups and associations the house for holiday Luigi Einaudi at San Damiano Macra. For the elderly, there is a communal meeting center and one in the parish. The Retirement Home St. Joseph has 78 beds available.
Areas of sports and leisure
"Salone Polivalente", large multi-purpose hall used for meetings, cinema, theater, dances and celebrations.
Municipal sports center. Soccer field on grass, two artificial grass fields, beach volleyball court. Front of the property a private gym and tennis center with clay courts, grass and pool. At the location "Carmagnotta" fitness trail and outdoor area equipped with fishing platform for the disabled and children.
The Forest of Merlin extends about a mile north of the town and is one of the last of lowland forest. The undergrowth in spring we find extraordinary blooms. You can explore the forest on foot or by bike.
Economy
The 18% of the population are farmers, cultivating fodder coming from meadows, fields produce mainly corn. These products provide a good meat production and a lot of milk; the factory "Fattorie Osella" it works more than 100,000 kg daily producing well-known cheeses. The inhabitants of Caramagna are dedicated to the industry and creating crafts especially dairy industry, followed by the engineering, manufacturing and packaging laminates, handicraft and trade.
Festivals and fairs
- Last weekend in June, the Summer Festival;
- 4th Sunday of September, the fair "della Beata Caterina", the patron saint of Caramagna together in San Biagio;
- Last Sunday in October, Fried Pancake Festival, combined with the market and antique.

AIDO, AVIS, Don Pignata, Pro Loco, Youth Group, Merchants Association, the Alpine Group, Civil Defence, Oratory, Choral "Beata Caterina", the group "Albero Grande", The Theatre Company. Caramagna is twinned with the City of Alicia in Argentina and with Aquilonia, in the province of Avellino.
Sports and sports associations
The sports hall of Caramagna hosts the home matches of the team CLD Carmagnola, futsal team that play in serie A2. In addition to football can be practiced karate (abs. Caramagna Okinawa), running (ass.Podistica Caramagna) bowls (abs. Granda North), fishing (abs. SPSC The Moglia), tennis (Tennis Centre Europe).

According to ISTAT data foreigners living in Caramagna Piemonte at 1st January 2013 were 272 and represents 8.9% of the population. The nationalities most represented according to their percentage of the total population were:
