Purpose of use |
Used in an educational article to illustrate the response outside Britain to its attempt to retake the Falkland Islands from Argentina. The magazine covers of Time and Newsweek often in hindsight depict momentous events in history, and for the British Empire, this was one such momentous event, as it was the last time that Britain deployed its armed forces in defence of any of its territories. Use of the image itself conveys the event far more strikingly than simply quoting the words "the empire strikes back" could ever do. |
