Gerald A. "Gerry" Walford is a former ice hockey player, and college ice hockey head coach at Ohio State.

Education

Walford graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.A. He earned a master's degree from Ithaca College[1] and a doctorate in sports psychology from the University of Maryland.

Playing career

Walford played college hockey at North Dakota from 1958–61.[2] He was an alternate captain his senior season of 1960–61.[3] He scored a goal in the 1959 NCAA championship game against Michigan State, which North Dakota won in overtime.[4]

Coaching career

Walford coached Ohio State from 1972–75 while a graduate student. He finished his three-season coaching career with a 41–46–4 record.

Post Coaching

Walford is currently a PGA professional in Kentucky. Along with his son, Gerald E., he is the author of many sports psychology and coaching books, including "The Golf Whisperer."[1]
