Guy Chaussinand-Nogaret
Guy Chaussinand-Nogaret is a French historian and academic. He is honorary director of research at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences and a specialist in the 18th century.
Career overview
Guy Chaussinand-Nogaret wrote a post-graduate thesis in history, entitled Les financiers languedociens au xviiie siècle (1968), which he defended at the Practical School of Higher Studies. In 1985, he defended a doctoral thesis entitled Les élites en France de la Régence au Premier Empire, under the direction of Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie, at the University of Paris-IV. He became a lecturer at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, where he was appointed director of research in 1996.
A specialist in the eighteenth century, to which he dedicated his thesis published under the title Les financiers de Languedoc au XVIIIe siècle, he is the author of La noblesse au XVIIIe siècle. De la Féodalité aux Lumières and La vie quotidienne des Français sous Louis XV. He has also written a book on Cardinal Dubois and the reign of Louis XVI.
