Harry Howard Barton Allan CBE (27 April 1882 – 29 October 1957) was a New Zealand teacher, botanist, scientific administrator and writer.

Allan was born on 27 April 1882 in Nelson,[1] and was educated at Nelson College,[2] and Auckland University College, from where he graduated MA in 1908.[1] For his lengthy botanical study of Mount Peel, he was awarded a Doctor of Science in 1923.[1]

In the 1948 King's Birthday Honours Allan was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to botany in New Zealand.[3]
