The IIFA Award for Best Actress is given by the International Indian Film Academy as part of its annual award ceremony for Hindi films, to recognise a female actor who has delivered an outstanding performance in a leading role. The recipient is chosen by viewers and the winner is announced at the ceremony.

With three awards each, Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan share the record for most wins in this category.

Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan, with three wins each, have more Best Actress wins than any other actress. Two actresses: Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor, have two wins. Rani Mukerji have won the award in consecutive three years (2005-2007).

Actresses who have won both Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards include Rani Mukerji, Anushka Sharma and Kangana Ranaut. Rani Mukerji is the first and only actress to win both these awards in the same year.

There has been only one tie in the history of this category. This occurred in 2010 when Kareena Kapoor and Vidya Balan were both given the award.

Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Rani Mukerji and Deepika Padukone hold the record for most nominations in the Best Actress category, with 7, followed by Priyanka Chopra (6). Rani Mukerji is the overall most-nominated performer in the female acting categories, with 10 nominations overall. Rani Mukerji also holds the record for most consecutive year nominations with 6 between 2003 and 2007 winning thrice in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Deepika Padukone, who received three out of the six nominations of this category in 2014 (and eventually won for Chennai Express), holds the record for the highest number of Best Actress nominations in a single year.
