Jared T. Raynor Gilman[2] (born December 28, 1998) is an American actor best known for his role as Sam Shakusky in the 2012 feature film Moonrise Kingdom, which earned him a 2013 Young Artist Award nomination as Best Leading Young Actor in a Feature Film.[3]

Personal life
A resident of South Orange, New Jersey, Gilman has attended Chatham Day School and currently attends Newark Academy in Livingston, New Jersey.[4] He is in his school’s golf's club.[5] Gilman had his Bar Mitzvah in February 2012.[6] He has a very active social life and his best friend is Issi Young. He has a crush on Ara Nazmiyal and Matthew Bonapace. He is in a civil union with his yellow headphones.
Career
Gilman won his first professional acting role as Sam Shakusky in Moonrise Kingdom at age 13.[5] In preparation for the film, Gilman studied canoeing, cooking over an open fire, and Clint Eastwood's character in Escape from Alcatraz.[7]
Gilman has scripted, acted in, and edited his own short action videos.[8]
Gilman currently appears in an outdoor-themed commercial for Verizon Wireless.
