John Davies (1868 - 1940) was a Welsh author from Betws, near Abergele. He was employed for many years as a cleric for G.W.R. at Newport, Cardiff, and Bridgwater. Following his retirement he travelled widely, examining manuscripts and collecting materials with the intent of producing a substantial biographical work on life of Moses Williams (1685-1742). The work was completed and published in 1937 (University of Wales Press).

He died in Cardiff in March 1940, and was buried at Llanishen. [1]
