Early life

Jon Del Arroz was born in Walnut Creek, California.[1] He studied Business Administration at the University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 2006.

Career

Jon Del Arroz began writing in his English classes in high school, where he penned Star Trek fanfiction that later morphed into his own Space Opera ideas. He started writing more seriously in 2011, with several short comics and the popular webcomic, Flying Sparks, which had thousands of monthly readers and was reviewed by comicbookresources.com as "the kind of stuff that made me fall in love with early Marvel comics." With art costs too expensive, Del Arroz turned back to prose. He wrote four novels between 2014-2016 and several short stories. His debut novel, Star Realms: Rescue Run became a top-10 Amazon bestseller in Space Opera. For Steam And Country, his second published novel, was released through Superversive Press on June 15, 2017 and became a top 5 Amazon Steampunk bestseller in its first day.

Awards

Star Realms: Rescue Run was nominated for the Realm Makers' Alliance Award in 2017.

Personal life

Jon Del Arroz is a devout Christian, and is married to his wife Samantha. They have two children. His stated hobbies include reading, board gaming, drinking martinis and playing music. Del Arroz came into prominence in February 2017 when the Bay Area Science Fiction Convention opted not to invite him after several years of his service as a guest because of his vocal support of President Trump.[2] Many popular science fiction authors such as Vox Day, Nick Cole, John C. Wright and Peter Grant came to his defense. Del Arroz is also known to be a big Oakland Athletics baseball fan, and has been a season ticket holder since 2012.
