Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Lilliana Gil immigrated to the United States as a teenager. She attended Southwestern Adventist University, earning a Bachelor’s in Business, as well as an MBA from the University of Colorado.[1] In 2000, she became the youngest female executive at Johnson & Johnson. There she held positions including the company's global marketing services director, co-founder of the company's chapter of the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement (HOLA), and as head of “Proyecto MAS2”, an initiative to bring increased visibility to the Hispanic segment of the company's customer base.[2][3]

In 2009, Valletta founded XL Alliance with Armando Martin, Manny Fields and Enrique Arbelaez. The company is a cross-channel and cross-cultural marketing and strategy agency and is 100 percent minority owned.[4][5] The company currently has offices in New York, Denver, Los Angeles and Bogota.[6][7]

Valletta has appeared in the media to the Hispanic markets, including on FOX News, MSNBC and CNN.[8][9][10][11] She has appeared in Spanish-speaking media for networks including Univision, Telemundo47, Television Dominicana, Telemicro Internacional, Caracol Television and NTN24 Noticias.[12][13][14][15] She is also an independent contributor for the Huffington Post and Fox News Latino.[16][17]

Valletta has hosted the Miss Dominican Republic U.S. pageant, and is the host of the YouTube channel Moments to CultuRise with multicultural news and commentary.[18][19] Valletta has also spoken before organizations and universities.[20][21][22] Valletta has frequently mentioned the idea of the "Brown Elephant" in the room, which represents a Latino market that is currently being ignored, despite the fact that it's growing in size and income.[23]
