Rebeldes (also stylized as RebeldeS) was a Brazilian musical group that emerged in the Brazilian soap opera Rebel Rio, produced by Rede Record in partnership with Mexican Televisa and first displayed.[1] In the plot, the six main characters – Alice, Carla, Diego, Pedro, Roberta and Tomás – form a fictitious band, and the six actors who play these characters – respectively Sophia Abrahão, Melanie Fronckowiak, Arthur Aguiar, Micael Borges, Lua Blanco and Chay Suede – started to act like a real band.

The band released the first album of his career with the same name set on 30 September 2011 by the label EMI Music, in partnership with the Record Entertainment and reached the third place in Brazil's official music chart, the CD – TOP 20 Weekly ABPD, for two consecutive weeks with the initial single disc, Do Jeito Que Eu Sou, have reached the seventeenth and twenty-first chart positions Hot 100 and |Hot Pop, the Billboard Brazil, respectively.[2][3][4] On 11 April 2012, the sextet released their first live album and DVD entitled Rebeldes - Ao vivo, recorded during shows in São Paulo to 7,000 people.[5][6] Like the novel, which had its last chapter in October 2012, the end of the band was announced, closing with his last tour "Rebeldes Para Sempre".[7]

Career

2010–2011: Formation and debut album

Chay Suede singer participated in the fifth season of Brazilian reality show Ídolos[8] and, shortly after being eliminated from the show in September 2010, it was contemplated to join the cast of the soap opera, because of its popularity with the public.[9] Only at the end of October that would be announced the actors who interpret the protagonists and formed the band.[10]

The Brazilian band NX Zero played a major role in the production of the album. The opening song, recorded by the six protagonists on 14 March 2011, was composed by Diego Ferrero, vocalist[11] Gee Rocha and guitarist Rick Bonadio composed and also songs that were included on the first album,[12] released on 30 September 2011.[3][13] "Do Jeito Que Eu Sou" was released as single album, as well as an acoustic version originally included on the album Rebeldes as a bonus track.[14][15] On 6 November 2011, the stage of the Programa do Gugu, the band won their first gold record, corresponding to the mark of 50,000 copies sold of the album Rebeldes certified by ABPD.[16] The members said they dream of a national tour, since their relatives and friends have never attended a concert of the band.[17] A tour began in Porto Alegre, in October 2011, with a show that was attended by Manu Gavassi. The tour was held under the title Rebeldes Teen Festival.[18] The album has sold about 120,000 copies and is certified Platinum.

2012: DVD first and second album

In March 2012, the band announced the first CD and DVD live, released on 11 April 2012 and titled as Rebeldes - Ao vivo. The album reached the 5th position in the Top 10, thus receiving his second gold record for 60,000 copies, while the DVD has received the Platinum DVD for sales equal more than 80,000 copies.[19] On 7 April, the band released promo single Nada Pode Nos Parar to publicize the album and DVD. In June, the song Depois da Chuva was released as the third official single from the album Rebeldes, with a live clip taken from the band's first DVD.

In September 2012, the band released in Programa do Gugu, the first single from the second album, "Liberdade Consciente", where has the rhythm of reggaeton, style of music not well known in Brazil. Also in September, another single was released: the song "Meu Jeito, Seu Jeito", played by Lua Blanco. The name of the band's second album is also Meu Jeito, Seu Jeito. The CD, still in pre-sales, sold 20,000 copies.

2013: The end of the group

In March 2013, after much controversy and rumors, Arthur Aguiar used his Instagram to clarify their "departure" from Rebeldes. Arthur said he is not leaving the group to devote to "F.U.S.C.A." and the novel Dona Xepa and who will be attending the shows that are already scheduled.[20]

The group recorded a DVD on 30 September 2012 in the Cidade Folia, in Belém do Pará, however, the DVD was canceled. The last concert of the group took place on 4 May 2013 in Belo Horizonte.[citation needed]
