Rory Atkins (born 12 July 1994) is a professional Australian rules football player who plays for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Atkins was drafted with pick #81 of the 2012 National Draft.[1]

AFL career

2013

Atkins played seven matches for Sturt and twelve matches for Sturt's Reserves team in the SANFL.[2]

2014

To start 2014, Atkins played for the Crows' reserves team in what was their first ever match. He scored one goal in the 47-point loss to North Adelaide.[3] Atkins was in good form throughout the season, resulting in being named as an emergency for the Crows in two AFL matches.[4] He ranked 6th in the team's Club Champion award,[5] average 19 disposals per match with an efficiency of 80 percent.[6]

2015

Atkins got an injury to the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in February which meant he couldn't play for three months.[7] When he returned to the SANFL he had a career-best performance of 32 disposals and 10 clearances in the team's twenty-point loss to Centrals.[8] Due to good form, he was selected in the AFL team's 25-man squad for the match against Geelong,[9] but the match was cancelled due to the death of coach Phil Walsh. He then returned to the Reserves team.[10]

Atkins made his debut against Port Adelaide in round 16 as the substitute.[11] In the Crows' match against the Brisbane Lions in Round 21 he kicked two goals, including a nominee for goal of the year.[12] He remained in the team until the Elimination Final against the Western Bulldogs, when he was substituted out of the match. He was dropped for the Semi-Final against Hawthorn and replaced with Jarryd Lyons.[13]
