Sarah Nettleton (born October 1, 1950) is an American architect, landscape designer, and author. She is the founder of Sarah Nettleton Architects, based in Minneapolis-St. Paul.[1]

Personal background

Sarah Nettleton was born October 1, 1950 in New Haven, Connecticut. Her grandfather founded the mortgage banking firm Lomas & Nettleton. Nettleton received her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Architecture from Tulane University.[2]

Professional background

Nettleton is the founder of Sarah Nettleton Architects, based in Minneapolis-St. Paul. She won several National Awards for The Tofte Cabin, which delivered zero net annual energy with a monitored result.[3]

Nettleton has taught sustainable design at the University of Minnesota's College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, and at the Hamline University Master of Liberal Arts Program, and lectured at colleges and organizations around the country.[4] She has appeared on The Nate Berkus Show, Oprah & Friends Radio, and on local television in Minneapolis-St. Paul and San Francisco.[citation needed]

In 2012 she was awarded with the American Institute of Architects Architect of Distinction award.[5]

Community service

Nettleton is involved in the Minneapolis-St. Paul community, with a focus on supporting the arts and the environment. She is a member of the Minneapolis Art Institute Prints and Drawings Council and the United Arts Allocations Committee.[citation needed] She is additionally a board member of the following organizations:
