The Thunderbolt Express was a looping shuttle roller coaster located at Camden Park. Originally named the Screamin' Demon, it was designed by Arrow Dynamics for Kings Island. It operated there between 1977 and 1987, when it was sold and moved to Camden Park in 1988. It operated there until 1999, when it was shut down after a circuit board malfunction, and remained closed due to a lack of maintenance funds. Despite initial announcements that the ride would be renovated and re-opened by 2002, it remained closed through 2004. After the 2004 season, the Thunderbolt Express was dismantled and replaced by a miniature golf course.
Uniqueness
The Thunderbolt Express was the only shuttle roller coaster in West Virginia. It was also the only coaster in West Virginia with a loop.
