Types

There are various different types of top 10 lists. A top 10 list can consist of various different elements, and can even include more than 10 items. Some top 10 lists are organized by how much the item appeals to the top 10 list’s creator or creators, whilst others may be organized in another way.

Ranked

Ranked top 10 lists are top 10 lists which are organized in a ranked fashion. They can be ranked by how much the top 10 list’s creator or creators likes the item, or by stated facts and/or statistics.

Thematic

Thematic top 10 lists are top 10 lists which are listed in a fashion of type. The type can range from genre, to age, to name.

Random

Random top 10 lists are top 10 lists which are not organized in any special way. #1 on the list is not any better or different than #10, and they are chosen randomly by the creator or creators. Many omit the “top” from the name of the list because, if the top 10 list’s items are chosen randomly, despite its name, the list is not a top 10 list; it is merely a list of 10 items. Despite this, some still opt to keep the “top” in its name, despite the items being listed randomly.

Media

Top 10 lists can be created in various forms of media, be it blogs, video hosting services, magazines, etc.

Collaborative

In the form of a video on a video hosting website, many top 10 list videos tend to be collaborative. Collaborative top 10 list videos feature multiple persons stating the list’s items and describing them, most of which are chosen alternately.
