WROX-FM is an Alternative Rock formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Exmore, Virginia, serving the Norfolk/Virginia Beach (Hampton Roads) metro area and the Eastern Shore of Virginia.[1]
Format change
On April 8, 2011, WROX changed its format, moving from Modern Rock to Modern Adult Contemporary.[2] However, the change was unsuccessful, even though the station still reported as Alternative Rock per Mediabase & Nielsen BDS. It later reverted to its older sound as a result. The station had been leaning contemporary hit radio mainly because the Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads market did not have a contemporary hit radio station until WVHT was launched in 2009. The contemporary hits lean was dropped in August 2011.
Translator
In addition to the main station, WROX-FM is relayed by an FM translator to widen its broadcast area.[3][4]
