William N. Carrico, Jr.
William "Bill" N. Carrico, Jr. (born 1949 or 1950)[1] is a computer scientist and has founded several technology companies in the Silicon Valley area. He has been president and CEO of 3Com Corporation,[2] senior vice president of Cisco Systems,[3] and chairman of Packet Design LLC.[4]
Education and personal life
Carrico graduated from Santa Clara University in 1972 with a BSEE, and attended Stanford University where he met his wife, Judy Estrin.[5]
Career
Carrico worked for Fairchild Semiconductor and Zilog.[4] He and Judith Estrin co-founded Bridge Communications in 1981, which merged with 3Com in 1987.[4] The couple joined Network Computing Devices in 1988.[6] Carrico and Estrin also co-founded Precept Software in 1995 (acquired by Cisco Systems in 1998) and Packet Design LLC in 2000.[4]
