Early life
Champa was born in the 1950s in Jessore District, Khulna Division, Bangladesh. Her birth date is 5 January.
She is the younger sister of actresses Bobita and Shuchanda.[4] Champa is fifth eldest in a family of three sisters and three brothers.
Career
TV career
Champa started her career in 1981 with the BTV drama Dub Satar.[5] She soon received offers for other dramatic roles, and appeared in Sahabjadir Kalo Nekab, Akash Bariye Dao, Khola Daroja, Ekti Joddo Anno Ekti Meye, Apoya, Ekhane Nongor, and others.[6]
Film career
Champa's first film was Tin Konna (1986), directed by Shibli Sadik.[7] This film was produced by her sister Shuchanda, and all three sisters (Shucanda, Babita, and Champa) appear in the film. Champa plays a police inspector. Champa was the most popular actress in the period : 1990-96. She is considered as the 'Sridevi of Bangladesh'.
Personal life
Champa married businessman Shahidul Islam Khan in 1982. They have one daughter named Esha[8][9] Champa's relatives include Omar Sunny (nephew), Moushumi (niece in law), and Riaz (cousin).
