Helena Isaura Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim (27 February 1931 – 13 September 2015) was a Brazilian writer.

Biography

Helena Jobim was born in Rio de Janeiro. She studied literary creativity and Brazilian and Portuguese literature at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).

She made his literary debut in 1968 with the novel A Chave do Poço do Abismo, written by four hands with Vânia Reis e Silva. Her Trilogia do Assombro (Trilogy of Astonishment) was adapted for the cinema by director Marco Altberg in 1986, in the film Fonte da Saudade.

In 1997 she wrote Antônio Carlos Jobim, um Homem Iluminado, a biography of her brother Tom Jobim.

Her life and work are the subject of a documentary film by Minas Gerais director Ernane Alves. The feature film Helena is produced by Portraits Factory Filmes LTDA. Actors such as Bruno Gagliasso, Deborah Secco and Sandy perform poems and excerpts from her books, with an original soundtrack produced by musician Lucas Lima.

Helena Jobim died in Belo Horizonte at the age of 84.
