Music sample

"I'm Outta Love" is the debut single by American recording artist Anastacia. Written by Anastacia, Sam Watters, and Louis Biancaniello, the song was released as the lead single from her debut album, Not That Kind (2000). In the U.S. "I'm Outta Love" is Anastacia's only single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number eighty-two, but was nevertheless a success on Billboard's dance charts, where it reached number two for 8 consecutive weeks on the Hot Dance Club Play and Hot Dance Airplay charts.

The song is also noted as the first song in US Billboard Hot 100 history to debut at a chart position below the top 40 of the charts, climb up a few places and stay at that peak for more than three consecutive weeks. The song peaked at number 82 and stayed consecutively at this peak for seven weeks before falling off the charts. This record would only be broken in 2003 by Blu Cantrell's song "Breathe" featuring Sean Paul, which debuted at 59, but then peaked at 41 and stayed there for nine consecutive weeks. However, even with the moderate success of the song in the US, the song was met with both critical acclaim and extreme commercial success outside of the US, launching Anastacia into superstar status where it peaked in Australia, Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), and New Zealand, and reached the top ten in Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, and the UK.

The song ended 2000 as Europe's fourth best-selling single, as well as the year's top-selling single in both Australia and New Zealand, and has gone on to become one of the singer's signature hits.

Critical reception

William Ruhlmann of AllMusic called this song "aggressive dancefloor item."[1] MTVAsia.com editor Tricia Boey wrote that this song "could very well have been sung by Jennifer Lopez or a whole Billboard chart-full of other divas."[2]

Music video

The music video for "I'm Outta Love", directed by Nigel Dick and choreographed by Robin Antin, was filmed on location at the Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California, between October 9–10, 1999. The song also spawned an official remix video for the Hex Hector Radio Mix, which included some new and extended scenes. The video featured Vin Diesel.
