John C. Demers is an American attorney. Currently serving as vice president and assistant general counsel at Boeing, he has been nominated by President Donald Trump to become Assistant Attorney General of the National Security Division. A graduate of College of the Holy Cross and Harvard Law School, Demers clerked for Antonin Scalia of the United States Supreme Court and Diarmuid O'Scannlain of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He worked in private practice before serving in the Office of Legal Counsel. Demers was on the leadership team of the National Security Division, first as senior counsel to the Assistant Attorney General and then as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Law & Policy. Demers is an adjunct professor teaching national security law at Georgetown Law.[1][2]
