John Robert Hoffman (most often known simply as John Hoffman) is an American actor, screenwriter, director and producer. In addition to acting in films, television, and theatre, he wrote screenplays for films such as Indianapolis, Queen of the Jews, aka Queen Bess, and The Last of Sheila. He made his writing/directing debut with the MGM and Jim Henson Pictures film Good Boy! (2003). He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award as part of the writing team for the 81st Academy Awards (2009). Hoffman is also a contributing writer to both Grace and Frankie and Looking.

As an actor, Hoffman is best recognized as the Mad Hatter in the Disney children's television series Adventures in Wonderland, which aired between 1992 and 1995.
