El Juicio Final (2011) (Spanish for "The Final Justice") was a professional wrestling major show event produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) that took place on June 17, 2011 in Arena México, Mexico City, Mexico. The main event of the show was a Lucha de Apuestas, Mask vs. Mask match between Averno and La Máscara. After losing the match, Averno removed his mask and revealed that he was Renato Ruíz Cortes, 34-year-old 16-year veteran from Mexico City. Just hours prior to the start of the event, former CMLL wrestler Tony Rivera orchestrated a protest, blocking the entrance to Arena México with a fleet of buses, due to feeling that CMLL was not paying their wrestlers enough.[2] After initial fears that the event might be cancelled, Rivera finally ended the protest after a meeting with CMLL management.[1]

Production

Background

The Mexican wrestling company Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (Spanish for "World Wrestling Council"; CMLL) has held a number of major shows over the years using the moniker Jucio Final ("Final Judgement") with the first confirmed use of the name dating back to 1990. It is not an annually recurring show, but instead held intermittently sometimes several years apart and not always in the same month of the year either. All Juicio Final shows have been held in Arena México in Mexico City, Mexico which is CMLL's main venue, its "home".[3] Traditionally CMLL holds their major events on Friday Nights, which means the Juicio Final shows replace their regularly scheduled Super Viernes show.[3] The 2011 Jucio Final show was the sixth show to use the name.

The event featured six professional wrestling matches with different wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds, plots and storylines. Wrestlers were portrayed as either heels (referred to as rudos in Mexico, those that portray the "bad guys") or faces (técnicos in Mexico, the "good guy" characters) as they followed a series of tension-building events, which culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.
