Kawartha Dairy produces a line of milk and cream products in addition to its very well known ice cream, which the company began to offer in the mid-1950s. While Kawartha Dairy milk and cream are available primarily in its home area of Central Ontario, the ice cream can be found throughout Ontario. The company also operates eight of its own retail stores, located in Bobcaygeon, Minden, Bancroft, Lindsay, Uxbridge, Huntsville, Peterborough and Barrie.

History

The company was started in 1937, when Jack and Ila Crowe bought a small dairy in Bobcaygeon. They then increased the size of the operation in 1942 by buying the other existing dairies in the town. In the early 1960s, the company expanded to Minden where it opened a depot, which has become the most well-known of the company's eight stores.[1]

Products

Popular products include its ice cream, chocolate milk, and eggnog. The company makes a point of using fresh Ontario milk and cream exclusively in its ice cream..[2]
