Kymi B.C. is a Greek professional basketball club that is located in Kymi, Greece. The club is also known as G.S. Kymis, with the club's full name being Gymnastikos Syllogos Kymis (Greek: Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Κύμης). The club competes in the Greek A2 Basket League.

Kymi was founded in 2010 with the creation of the men's basketball section. The club began its course very strongly, and managed to achieve several league promotions from the local championships to the national categories.

History

Local Categories

At the beginning of the 2010-11 season the club he joined the 3rd class of the loacal division and managed to reach directly the promotion to the second division. The following season, Kymi maintained the original impulse and the next summer gained the promorion for the 1st class of the local league.

On May 2012 the club named Vasilis Bratsiakos as the Head coach. The rise of the club in the 1st local league continued the following year when Kymi won the Championship against A.C. Kymi, gaining the promotion to the National Leagues.

National Leagues

With Vasilis Bratsiakos as the head coach, Kymi became the champion of the Greek C Basketball League finishing with 19 wins and just one defeat.

The next season the club competed in the Greek B Basketball League, and particularly in the South Group. Continuing its upward trend, the club finished again in the top of the final standings, having collected 24 wins and 2 losses against 13 rivals maintaining unbeaten at the headquarters.

A2 Basket League

In the 2015-16 season, the club competed in the Greek A2 Basket League, for the first time in its history. During the 2015 summer transfer window, Kymi managed to make some amazing transfers, including Stavros Toutziarakis, Ioannis Psathas, Alexandros Sigkounas and Vaidas Kariniauskas from Žalgiris Kaunas, being one of the favorites to win the league.

On May 21, 2016, Kymi beated their rivals for the promotion Faros Keratsiniou 67-56 and secured their place to the Greek Basket League for the first time in the clubs history. Kymi became also the only club that managed to get six straight promotions to the bigger leagues.

Arena

The club plays its home games at the Nikos Marinos Indoor Hall, a small arena with a capacity of about 500. After the promotion of the club to the Greek Basket League, Kymi is going to renovate the hall in order to be eligible for the Basket League matches. The capacity is also going to be upgraded from 500 to 1,100 seats.
