London Buses route 70 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between South Kensington station and Acton, it is operated by Tower Transit.

History

Route 70 was introduced on 2 March 1991 between Acton and South Kensington from CentreWest's Westbourne Park garage.

On 3 August 2004, the route was included in the sale of Thorpes to Metroline.

On 22 June 2013, the route was included in the sale of First London's Westbourne Park garage to Tower Transit.[1][2][3]

In November 2014, Transport for London launched a consultation to extend the route from Acton to Chiswick Business Park via Acton Town.[4]

Tender History

Upon being re-tendered in 1999, the route was awarded to Thorpes from 14 June 2000.

Upon being re-tendered in 2004, the route was retained by Metroline from 25 June 2005.[5][6]

Upon being re-tendered in 2011, the route was awarded to First London from 23 June 2012.[7]
