Paperless Post is an e-commerce company focusing on design-driven online and printed stationery, including greetings, invitations, birth announcements, wedding suites, and custom stationery. Paperless Post partners with leading fashion designers including kate spade new york, Kelly Wearstler, and Oscar de la Renta. The company is based in New York City.
Paperless Post competes with other event planning services such as Fête and Evite.[1]
History
Paperless Post was founded by sibling entrepreneurs James and Alexa Hirschfeld in 2008 when they were 23 and 25 years old.[2] It began as an online-only company and launched printed stationery in 2012.[3] The company partners with designers like Kate Spade New York to produce original work.[4]
In November 2011, e-card competitor Evite created a copycat product that copied many of Paperless Post's designs nearly pixel for pixel.[5][6] Industry backlash caused Evite to withdraw their new product from the market for over a year.
Paperless Post partnered with leading stationery company Crane & Co. to produce the first collection of hybrid online-offline wedding suites. These designs are available online as well as on fine cotton paper with engraving and letterpress.[7]
The company has raised $12.4 million in capital to date.[8]
