Roopesh Kumar (Hindi: रूपेश कुमार)[1][2][3] was a character actor in Bollywood films, especially known for his role as a villain. During his career, he worked in over 100 Hindi films. He was cousin of actress Mumtaz.[4]

Born Abbas Farashahi on 16th January, 1946 in Mumbai, he was the oldest son of Ali Asgar Farashahi (Asgar Seth of Pune city, Mandai) and Mariam. He is also a product of Dastur School, Pune.

He was fondly known as Dadash (means Brother in Farsi). Although his family were in the restaurant and bakery business in Pune, he chose to be an actor which he loved from his childhood days. He had a lot of brotherly love and respect for actress Mumtaz and therefore named his oldest daughter Mumtaz.

Career

He started his career with Tarzan and King Kong(1965). Paappi Devataa(1995) was his last film he acted in. He also directed & produced two films Hai Meri Jaan (1991) & Meri Aan (1993).
