Protests

The students staged a protest in front of Tambaram Railway Station in the year 2010 against management for treating a student badly(Physical Violence)[2]

Also Sri Sairam Engineering College was accused of receiving donations for offering seats for students and this was uncovered by Vikatan(Esteemed Tamil Magazine).[3]

Recently the college came to limelight when there was a circular that went viral on social media. The circular had a list of big "NO's" for girls. This triggered wide protest from women activist against oppression. There was also a live debate on one of the esteemed news channel NDTV, where the college professor K.Maaran also participated and still was firm on the code of conduct.[4]

The college students staged a protest at Anna University(Governing body for all its affiliated colleges), against dress code, immoral rules, and human rights violations that's taking place on campus. They also demanded the removal of the alleged campus-director P.Balu[5]

The reports says that the management wants to bring back the campus-director as earlier and hence forced the students to sign a petition for the same. They were denied of power supply, water and internet connectivity(so as to avoid news spreading to media). Goons were hired to attack student around 11 pm on saturday(10 October 2015). Following this incident, student went on a rampage breaking down every piece of infrastructure for the attack against them. The management brought in police and in turn they too threatened students. The student had no way to lodge their complaints and hence they took the extreme step of suicide. The management realized that issue has become serious and brought in the parents.[6][7] As of now the college is closed and is expected to reopen only for the exams.
