Sunil Chhatrapal Kedar

Sunil Chhatrapal Kedar is a member of the 13th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He represents the Savner Assembly Constituency. He belongs to the Indian National Congress.[1] He retained the seat he had won in 2009 as a Indian National Congress candidate.[2][3] Kedar had represented Savner as an independent in 1995 and 2004.[4]

Kedar is son of former Maharashtra minister and pioneer of co-operative movement in Nagpur district, Chhatrapal Kedar.[5]

Controversy

As chairman of Nagpur District Central Co-operative Bank, and then a member of Nationalist Congress Party Kedar was arrested in connection with a Rupees 153.4 crores securities scandal, in May, 2002.[6] In November, 2013, the assistant registrar of the department of co-operatives ordered Kedar to pay Rupees 299 crores, to compensate the loss the bank bore.[7]
