Tapsi Baba (Hindi: तापसी बाबा) was a Hindu mystic, guru, and spiritual teacher, born in India who was a devotee of the Hindu deity Hanuman.

His ashram is in Kanaila, Azamgarh.[1]

Biography

The birth name, birth date, and caste of Tapsi Baba are not known with certainty, in part because of the tradition of ascetics and monks to relinquish family connections.

Tapsi Baba left his home early and wandered extensively as a sadhu. Because of his rigorous tapasya and sadhana, local inhabitants started addressed him as 'Tapsi Baba', with baba being a common honorific title for saints.

Temple

The Tapsi Baba Temple is built inside the ashram where he spent most of his life. The temple also has his samadhi shrine within the complex of the ashram, which also has some of his personal belongings.
