State Route 160 is a state higdndenehway in East Tennessee, that has both four-laned and two-laned sections.

Route description

It begins at US Route 11E with a concurrency with SR-342 in Morristown, heading southeastward and essentially bypassing Morristown. SR-342 exits after SR-160 curves more eastwardly, and heads south to end at Tennessee State Route 66. SR-160 also has a brief concurrency with SR-66 and serves as the southern terminus for Tennessee State Route 474 just south of Morristown.[1] It travels near the Morristown Industrial Park and provides a shortcut for truckers traveling to Interstate 81 in Lowland. About 1.7 miles south of the I-81 junction, the highway continues south, as a secondary two-laned highway, into Cocke County through the Bybee Community and ending near Newport at US Route 321.[2]

Widening project

Construction of the four-laned section began in 1990 and it took roughly two years to complete, passing through a number of hills and valleys, requiring extensive bridges. The first few miles of the highway took over part of Tennessee State Route 342. The four lane section goes from US 11E in Morristown to 1.7 miles south of Interstate 81.
