Northwest Academy is an independent middle and high school in Portland, Oregon, United States. Class sizes are small (average of 15 students per class).[citation needed] Teachers include former college instructors and professional artists, directors, dancers, musicians, and writers.

History
Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. The school was founded in 1997 by Mary Vinton Folberg, former artistic director of The Jefferson Dancers and sister of Claymation creator Will Vinton. A dancer herself, Folberg set out to create a private, non-profit 6-12 school with an emphasis on academic achievement and the arts.[citation needed] The middle school was opened in 2002, with the total school population over 200 students for the 2015-2016 school year.[citation needed]
