The following is a list of known veterans of the Spanish Civil War (17 July 1936 – 1 April 1939) who died in 2008.

Baron, Antonio Garcia Durruti Column Spain 1921 17 November 2008 (87) Last survivor of the anarchist Durruti Column. He was held captive in Mauthausen concentration camp from 1940-45. He lived in Bolivia.[1][2]
Ross, Rosaleen Smythe International Brigade Canada 12 May 1909 26 October 2008 (99) Last Canadian female veteran. She assisted in organizing a hospital in three wooden huts outside the village of Grañén. She was sent to a former TB sanatorium at Santa Coloma de Farnés and become the hospital's secretary and personnel officer. She was discharged in October 1938 and lived in Vancouver.[3]
Staf, Karl International Brigade Sweden 18 March 1915 23 September 2008 (95) Last Swedish veteran. He joined in 1936 as a seaman. He was a journalist and writer and lived in Helsingborg.[4]
McKenna, Bernard International Brigade United Kingdom 11 September 1915 31 July 2008 (92) Radio enthusiast and a signaller in July 1937. He was wounded in December 1937 by an artillery shell. He was captured by Italian troops in March 1938 and served as a signaller in the RAF during World War II. Teacher. He lived in Manchester.[5][6]
Smith, David Abraham Lincoln Brigade United States 30 June 1913 2 July 2008 (95) Enrolled at University of Michigan. He volunteered in February 1937 and was wounded in late 1938. He was a teacher, machinist and labor organizer. He lived in Berkeley.[7]
Andrews, Howard (Andy) International Brigade United Kingdom 15 February 1907 2 May 2008 (101) Served as a medic. He lived in Taunton, Devon.[8]
Sánchez Mora, Rosario Republican Army Spain 21 April 1919 17 April 2008 (88) Enlisted on July 17, 1936. His right hand was blown off at the beginning of the war. He lived in Madrid.[9]
Osheroff, Abraham (Abe) Abraham Lincoln Brigade United States 24 October 1915 6 April 2008 (92) Joined in May 1937. He served as an infantryman in the Lincoln Battalion and was wounded in the Battle of Quinto in September 1937.[10][11]
Maloney, Terry International Brigade United Kingdom 20 April 1917 16 March 2008 (90) Volunteered in November 1937. He was wounded in August 1938 at the Battle of the Ebro, he served with the Royal Corps of Signals during World War II. Writer and illustrator. He lived in West Knighton in Dorset.[12]
Fullarton, Stephen International Brigade United Kingdom 23 August 1919 29 February 2008 (88) Last Scottish veteran. He was wounded on August 1, 1938 at the Battle of the Ebro. He joined the RAF during World War II; he lived in Edinburgh.[13]
Wolff, Milton (Milt) International Brigade United States 7 October 1915 14 January 2008 (92) Joined in March 1937 as a medic. He was promoted to commander of the Lincoln-Washington battalion in March 1938. An author, he lived in Addison.[14]
