The 2016–17 season will be Burnley's 135th competitive season and their first season back in the Premier League, just one season after their relegation in 2014–15.[1] Along with the Championship, the club will also compete in the FA Cup and Football League Cup. The season covers the period from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017.

Pre-season

On 20 May 2016, Burnley announced their first pre-season friendly for the 2016–17 season. It was confirmed that they will face Bolton Wanderers on 26 July at the Macron Stadium.[2]
