Piper, Kansas
Piper is a neighborhood within Kansas City, Kansas, United States. It was formerly an unincorporated semi-rural area, similar to Turner, before Piper was annexed in 1991.
History
Piper was laid out as a village in 1888.[1] A post office was opened in Piper in 1888, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1971.[2]
Education
Piper has its own school district known as Piper USD 203. It is one of four districts in Wyandotte County. Piper High School, Piper Middle School, Piper Elementary School, and Piper East Elementary School comprise the district. These schools are the first in the nation to have Google Fiber bandwidth.
The Piper Pirates 2012-2013 football team won its first regional bracket.[3] Piper USD 203 shares Wyandotte County's school districts with 3 other school districts. Kansas City, Kansas USD 500, Bonner Springs USD 204, and Turner USD 202.[4][5]
