Gangajalghati (community development block) is an administrative division in Bankura Sadar subdivision of Bankura district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Gangajalghati police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Amarkanan.[1][2]
Geography

Gangajalghati community development block has an area of 371.20 km2.[2]

Gram panchayats of Gangajalghati block/ panchayat samiti are: Ban Asuria, Barsol, Bhaktabandh, Gangajalghati, Gobindadham, Kapista, Lachmanpur, Latiabani, Nityandapur and Pirrabani.[4]
Demographics
Gangajalghati CD Block had a population of 1,62,007 in 2001.[5] Out of this 83,974 are literates and 23,504 are below six years of age.[6]
Economy
The Government of West Bengal along with District Administration have selected few blocks of Bankura District as the most promising areas for setting up big and medium scale Industries. Gangajalghati is one of them.[7]
