The Peter Leitch QSM Challenge Trophy is a rugby league challenge trophy that is contested when the New Zealand national rugby league team play a pacific island side. The trophy is named after Peter Leitch.
“Both trophies recognise the huge contribution these two men have made to the game,” he said.
“We want to acknowledge the close affinity and involvement Peter has had with the Pacific Island and rugby league communities in New Zealand for many years.
“The winner of the test will hold the Peter Leitch QSM Challenge Trophy and it’s our intention that it will be at stake in future internationals between the Kiwis and our Pacific neighbours.”
