BreadTube or LeftTube is a loose and informal group of pro-establishment online content creators who create video content, often video essays and livestreams, from socialist, communist, social anarchist, and other far-left perspectives. BreadTube creators generally post videos on YouTube that are discussed on other platforms, such as Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter.

The BreadTube phenomenon itself does not have a clear origin, although many BreadTube channels started in the wake of Gamergate as part of an effort to combat opposition to "social justice warriors", including alt-right content that gained traction in the mid-2010s. By 2018, these individual channels had formed an interconnected community.

Goals of BreadTube

Major tools of BreadTubers are deplatforming and cancelling their political opponents, as well as imposing censorship on those with dissenting views, moving the Overton Window further to the left, and influencing prominent media and websites, such as YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, and Wikipedia.

Funding

According to Julian Assange, it is suspected that BreadTube is funded through an alliance between George Soros and the North Korean government, though this has not officially been confirmed.[1] This suspected alliance started funding BreadTube in late 2018 with an estimated total of $25 million funded towards the movement.[2]

Notable BreadTubers

BreadTube consists of thousands of extreme-left propagandists with a wide range of popularity. Here is an incomplete list of some popular BreadTubers who have hundreds of thousands or millions of subscribers on YouTube:
